If I can help someone along the way, my living will not be in vain.
About Our Father's Business ministries

About Our Father’s Business Prison Ministries, Inc., hereafter referred to as AOFB ministries, is the prison ministry/community network of churches in Assumption parish and surrounding areas. It is a tax-exempt none profit ministry that serves the 17th, 19th, 23rd and 32nd Judicial Districts of Louisiana, which include Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, Lafourche, St. James and Terrebonne parishes. We minister to both the female and male inmates at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and have performed several baptisms of both. genders. This ministry and its special programs are unlike any of the traditional prison ministries or community outreach ministries in this area. In addition to ministering to the inmates and helping their families, we provide pre-trial monitoring and supervision to pretrial detainees released from jail or prison under "special bond conditions" and referred to our program. AOFB ministries’ goal is to assist in reducing the incident and impact of crime by offenders in the community and the rate of recidivism. The real benefit of this program is the quality case management provided and the defendant stays at his/her home under supervision while awaiting the final adjudication of their criminal matter. We are dedicated to assisting in the change of the lives of the accused through counseling, support information, referrals to valuable community resources.

Jesus, the Lion and the Lamb

For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing, I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison and you visited me. Then these righteous ones will reply; Lord, when did we ever see You hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the King will say; I will tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to Me.

                                   ----Matthew 25:35-40

Transition Home Program - is a “transition” home for inmates being released after having served their time or pre-trial detainees in the bonding stage (recently arrested). We endeavor to help those who has deviated from the proper course move from that state to a more regular or normal position in society. We provide a temporal place to reside as we deposit good morals and standards into their lives with the anticipation of having each return be of good result. This program promotes self-esteem, teaches positive coping methods and teaches life skills. The objective and purpose is to provide inmates being released or in the bonding stage (recently arrested) a positive alternative to the current court system. These males and females who are being released or in the bonding stage (recently arrested) are referred by the court and taught in various courses, which involves ministering (providing spiritual guidance) to them and often requires community services. The Transitional Home Program will be an integral step in helping these people succeed upon their release and re-entry into society.

We also help the families of the inmates, who need emergency help. It is estimated that the number of families who need services from About Our Father’s Business ministries will increase over the next several years. The population of inmates in Louisiana is growing and the number of families suffering from that growth is also increasing. A number of other programs exist to help in some areas of need for these families

. However, About Our Father’s Business ministries is an important resource to these programs because we can respond quickly with the one of the most important resources these families need and that is Hope!
